Impaired driving, increasingly, involves substances whether alcohol is or is not present.

In the below article, building upon an earlier post limited to just Colorado (in which the percentage of drunk drivers with no alcohol present but where drug(s) were present was 33%) in 2017, we learn that 49% of drivers who died in crashes and tested positive for alcohol also tested positive for drugs.

A new term has arisen to describe the changing dynamic: drugged driving.
