December 12, 2018; CDC reports that Fentanyl is currently the leading substance found in nation's fatal overdoses.

Report, covering the period between 2011 and 2016, has Fentanyl, at 28.8% for 2016, surpassing Heroin - which lead in 2015 at 25.4% - but ranks 2nd in 2016 at 25.1%.

The CDC report indicates that fatal overdose deaths increased 54% from 41,340 in 2011 to 63,632 in 2016 and it noted an improvement in the assessment of reporting on death certificates.
